          La sobremesa: cuando la comida no termina al comer

          Cuando llega la tarde, muchos hacen una merienda con los amigos. Y si la noche se anima, no es raro trasnochar hasta la madrugada, sin prisa por volver a casa.

            para expresses a goal when both clauses share the same subject (yo study – yo work). That's why the sentence uses “para trabajar”. You'd only need “para que” with different subjects — and with the subjunctive.
